February 2025

Based off historical data, we were anticipating a large increase of CARE Team reports in the month of February. Though the graph below may not show a drastic spike in the referrals; the data tells the story of the elevated concerns that were present during the month. The case management team worked with 97 students referred to CARE Team in the month of February. There was a 50% increase of students hospitalized. The case management team provided wrap around supportive care to the students and their families while students were hospitalized and worked as a liaison between the student and faculty.

Overall, the top concerns for the month of February 2025 matched the top concerns reported in February of 2024. See below.

January 2025 top concerns
1. Direct statements indicating distress
2. Expressions of hopelessness
3. Deterioration of quality of work

January 2024 top concerns
1. Direct statements indicating distress
2. Expressions of hopelessness
3. Deterioration of quality of work

We can anticipate that March will present different student concerns. During the month of March, students will be taking midterms and will have SEAS alerts pushed out. SEAS alerts are the Student Early Alert System that faculty use to inform a student in a timely manner if they are on track to passing the course. If a student is not on track to pass the course, this allows the student enough time to work with different departments on campus to create a plan for success. Knowing this, we can assume cases in March will highly be related to academics and coursework stress.
